SAT or the Scholastic Assessment Test,is a standardized test administered by the College Board and is required to be taken by students seeking admission to undergraduate schools.
Many colleges require scores from the SAT or ACT tests as a part of the admissions process. It’s purpose is to measure a high school student’s readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important SAT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.

It can be taken by students who are in high school.Students who want to apply for undergraduate studies abroad are required to have successfully completed their high school education to move to the next level of their learning.
- Exam syllabus
SAT exam analyses Mathematical, Critical Reading and Writing skills of the candidates. According to the College Board, they test the skills which students have learned in their schools. They test the skills which are required for the academic success of the students in college.The SAT also includes an optional Essay section. SAT Essay scores are reported separately from overall test scores. Some colleges may require that you complete the SAT Essay. You can confirm each college’s admissions policies on the school website or on our school profiles.
- Exam pattern
Each section of the SAT is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale. Your total SAT score is the sum of your section scores. The highest possible SAT score is 1600. If you take the Essay, you will receive a separate score.It’s test length is 3 hours (plus 50 minutes if taking optional Essay).

Create a profile on the College Board website
Fill the application form by providing Personal Information, High School Information, and Contact Information
- Create a Student Profile
- Select Test and Test Center
- Upload a front facing clear photograph of headshot
- Check out and pay the application fee using credit card or PayPal
- Print the admission ticket
To register by mail:
- Request SAT Student Registration Booklet from a counselor or College Board
- Fill the application form
- Mail the form along with a check or money order of application fee using the registration envelope to

- When does this exam takes place?
The SAT exam is offered nationally every year in August, October, November, December, March, May, and June.

- Marks analysis and cutoffs
The SAT is divided into two sections, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. These two sections are scored on a 200-800 point scale, for a maximum total score of 1600. SAT Subject Test scores are measured on a scale of 200 to 800. There are additional subscores reported on a 20-80 scale. The scores of a student reflect on how he/she is compared with other students who have appeared for the test.
There are no strict SAT cut-offs for top colleges/ universities, candidates are expected to fall within a certain range to be eligible for admission to top schools.
An average SAT score is around 1000. Anything above 1200 is considered a good SAT score. The maximum anyone can score on the SAT is the perfect score of 1600.
