All the nations of the world are facing one of the worst pandemics in the form of Coronavirus. In this time of economic downfall, the B.Tech undergraduates of the National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT WARANGAL) did a generous act by donating a hefty amount of INR 23,76,840 to the PMCARES Fund.
Around 4000 Students from NIT WARANGAL contributed their one-week mess-bill to PMCARES fund to help the nation fight COVID 19 pandemic. The Student authorized the hostel management to deduct one-week mess bill amount, which is close to Rs 581 (Rs 81 per day) for each Student. The whole amount gave a total amount of INR 23,76,840.

Formerly Faculty, Staff members, Alumni, and pensioners had also contributed to aid the efforts of the Government in fighting COVID-19 by donating to the PMCARES fund. Around 550 teaching and non-teaching staff, pensioners contributed their one day salary. The overall amount summed up to INR 17.10 Lakhs.
The Alumni of the institute also came forward during this hour of need and donated 6.5 Lakhs to PMCARES fund. Apart from monetary help, many faculty and staff members are involved in the distribution of food, essential provisions, masks, and sanitizers to the poor people, contract workers, and migrant laborers in the tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Kazipet.
NIT Warangal Students developed software in association with a company formed by alumni of the institute, which is helping Punjab police in maintaining social distance.
Prof NV Ramana Rao, Director of NIT Warangal, acknowledged and complimented the kind gesture of the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and pensioners and proclaimed the contribution of INR 50 Lakhs. He honored the contributions and the support offered by the members attached to NIT Warangal and hoped that the country would wade through these troubled times by following all preventive measures and using technological solutions.
