While the economy is struggling due to the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, 732 final-year students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, received full-time employment offers from the leading recruiters of the industry like Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Intel, HP, Oyo Rooms, Oracle, Reliance, Samsung and ITC Limited. The economic slowdown and recession was not a barrier in the successful placements of the final-year students of NIT Warangal.
As per a statement by the institute, the students received a salary package as high as Rs 43 lakh in the recently concluded campus placement. “Over 732 final year students have received full-time employment offers from leading recruiters and 14 final year students received a cost to company (CTC) of Rs 43.33 lakh per annum (LPA) as highest pay package,” read the statement by the placement section.
The placement cell reported that the hiring of over 80 percent of the undergraduate by 177 companies, and the remarkable increase in the average compensation of INR 12.15 LPA from INR 9.93 LPA. This might even reach greater heights as the placement session is not terminated until yet!!
The release mentioned the joining offers offered by the Public Sector Units (PSU) namely Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), the Government of India Enterprises(GOI) namely ISRO and ITI to 33 students out of which ISRO has inducted 6 students, and 16 were by Indian Telephone Industries (ITI).
HRD Minister Mr.Ramesh Pokhriyal congratulated the institute director through his tweet “I congratulate Director NIT Warangal for ensuring that placements happen without any hurdle during these tough times,”

This year saw a tremendous growth in the placement statistics in the history of NIT W. Around 93.22% of the total final-year students of the Computer Science and Engineering Department were placed while bagging the highest package of INR 43.33LPA and an average of INR 21.9LPA. The Electrical Engineering Department is no less behind with 88.18 % of the total final-year students of the Electrical Engineering Department were placed keeping in pace the competition with the students of the Computer Science and Engineering Department and bagging a package of INR 43.33LPA and an average of INR 10.17LPA.
87.33% of the total final-year students of the Electronics and Communication Engineering were placed with the highest package of INR 26LPA with the average package of INR 13.9LPA. The Mechanical Engineering Department in pace with others, with 84.46% of the final-year students being placed with the highest package of INR 25LPA averaging to INR 8.6LPA.
Up-next is the Chemical Engineering Department with the placement percentage of 81.57% with the highest package of INR 22LPA averaging to INR 7.98LPA. With the tireless efforts of the students of the Metallurgical and Material Engineering, around 65.78% students are placed with the highest package of INR 12.9LPA averaging to INR 6.94LPA.
In pace with others, 56.97% of the total students of the Civil Engineering Department were placed with the highest package of INR 14.8LPA which averages to INR 6.43LPA. No less, 52.63% of the students of the Biotechnology Department were placed with the highest package of INR 16.9LPA which averages to INR 8.07LPA.
